In the End

"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, then it's not the end."

I'm not a sucker for inspirational quotes- I actually find them kind of cheesy and annoying usually. Especially in this form. (Sorry, just keepin' it real).

They're just corny--but so is the word corny. I hate that word.

OH! And that "Footprints" quote thing is the worst! (You know the one, usually in restrooms for some reason...).

The only thing I normally say is, "everything in moderation"--which I feel like is a good lesson to live by for most circumstances. It can apply to chocolate cupcakes and to exercise. It can apply to working and having fun. It applies to earning money and spending money.  So--that's my only little saying that I like to use.

Then recently I saw The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and I mean, all those Brits--gotta love it! Who doesn't love some Maggie Smith? (Maggie happens to star in some of my favorite movies including 'Arry Potta' --said in English Accent, duh--, Sister Act II, Hook, and the infamous,Violet Crawley on Downton Abbey)

.The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel certainly wasn't Maggie's best movie ever--but she is just smart mouthed and snarky in everything, and I love her.)

Anyways, in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, they use the line, "everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, then it's not the end". I thought there was something nice and sweet about that. It was a little reminder of whats to come...not necessarily heaven or things like that (not sure I believe in all that), but just that the circumstances you're in...if they're not great...then it doesn't have to be the end yet. It makes me happy and it's a nice little boost for a Tuesday. Especially after reading in Leviticus today that I can't enjoy Long Island Medium anymore because Mediums should be put to death. Also, Colonel Mustard can't sleep in the bed anymore because I can't lay with an animal. Wait, that's not what they meant?! EWW! Y'all!

Another quick update: This past weekend, David and I went to Charlotte to go to the Renaissance Festival. Please tell me other people did this in their life. I'd never been to one before and have only heard stories of fairies and chain mail ...so needless to say, I was pretty excited. Plus, it was PIRATE WEEKEND (how that fits, I'm not sure), so that made it more exciting. I saw my first joust and some belly dancers. Did I mention there was beer? That was one of the best parts, because without a beer in your hand, I'm not sure how you can enjoy this type thing (no offense). But really, it was a spectacle, and I'm glad the beer was good. The food on the other hand was less than vegetarian-friendly. You've seen the turkey right?

These guys? Yeah...not much food for moi, but that was okay. To be honest, (and if a vegetarian can give a meat critique real quick), I know one thing and that's that no one likes dry turkey. Those babies looked dry and chokable. No thank you, even if I ate meat.

Anyone had one? Are they as chokable as they look? Any other Ren-FEST fans out there? Any other quote-haters out there?

  3. I had my first turkey leg like a year or two ago at the renaissance fair in GA, and it wasn't bad but it was HUGE like no joke, and our beer was like $10 for one of those super tall (spring break sized ones) seemed kinda like a rip off... also this was like one of my first dates with that guy and have you ever tried to make eating a turkey leg look even remotely attractive (of course not your a vegetarian)... for the record it's not possible

  5. I went to the Ren fest every year in elementary school with Ronnie. We always had turkey legs and they were delicious. I got an ocarina (clay flute thankyouverymuch) there and won a certificate for getting the jousting stick through the ring hole. (Does that sound bad?) I also hate those quotes you find on decorations at Ross and Marshalls. And also, "Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, then it's not the end" reminds me of Senior Goodbyes on Skit Night cir. 2002. love, tina

  6. Is the ocarina gonna make an appearance on the new album?

Maybe that's why I like it--reminds us of the "if I die and go to heaven and it's not Mikell..." blah blah blah...
